Would I still be on probation or did it “stop?”

REAL CLIENT QUESTION:

I was supposed to be on felony probation, they gave me 5 years. But, due to lack of transportation (I lived in a different county) I never made it to meet my p.o. or to even start my orientation. I was wondering if I’d have a warrant or not?

ATTORNEY RESPONSE:

No probation did not stop, especially if you never started the orientation or met your PO. Yes, there is probably a warrant out for your arrest. You should hire counsel.  Not having transportation is not a valid legal excuse as to why you didn’t attend orientation, etc.  The longer you wait to address this the worse it may be.  You are dealing with a probation revocation issue.
